O Fortuna
Art Installation
In 2022, Lowlands Projects hosted the Good O’l Lawn Fun (GOLF) show, curated by Ryland Fortie. I created a hole that was one part mini-golf, one part plinko, one part fortune teller. Users of the hole would putt their ball up the incline where chance would decide which slot the ball would land in. Each slot coincided with a riso print fish fortune that players could take away with them.
The hole was built to resemble old mini golf courses, especially the 18th hole which typically acted as a gamified ball return. Hand-built and hand painted illustrations utilizing the colour schemes found in the risograph prints.

Six illustrations were created for the fortunes. Each fortune related to the fish in some way. The fortunes acted as a fun art print that users could keep, inspired by the Zoltar fortune teller machines found on piers and in theme parks. The prints were rendered in 2 colours on a Risograph duplicator, giving the images an ephemeral quality.
